Water transmission

When water transported from storage facility to distribution networks, water is travelling through transmission pipelines. Here, the necessary pressure is created either through gravity or through associated pumping stations. Water is channelled from its source, such as a reservoir, to a water treatment plant. From here, it is usually pumped into service reservoirs and distribution networks, finally arriving at private homes or facilities.

Concrete pipes, ductile iron pipes, steel pipes or fiberglass pipes (GRP / GRE) are usually used as water pipes. For smaller piping, you can use plastic pipes, such as high density polyethylene (HDPE).

There are various preferences associated with the background and concept why individual authorities and consulting engineers prefer different valve types and designs. While some are comfortable with gate valves, others prefer butterfly valves – and within each valve category, several design options are available. The choice of valve will also depend on project specific applications as well as availability of different pressure classes. For water transmission projects, AVK offers a broad range of gate valves, centric and double eccentric butterfly valves, air valves, swing check valves, mechanival and SCADA control valve, eccentric plug valve  and a wide selection of couplings, repair clamps and valve accessories.
